What is Greenpeace Day?
Greenpeace Day on September 15 marks the 1971 voyage that gave the movement its name, when a small crew sailed a chartered fishing boat toward Amchitka in Alaska to bear witness against nuclear testing. They were turned back, but the protest carried, and the test site closed the following year.
