What is World Octopus Day?
World Octopus Day celebrates one of the ocean's most extraordinary creatures. Octopuses have three hearts, blue blood, and around 500 million neurons distributed between brain and arms — letting them solve problems, use tools, and change color with a creativity that rivals any land animal. Fossils date back more than 300 million years, predating dinosaurs. The day invites us to learn about them, share their strangeness, and recognize the intelligence hiding beneath the waves.
