What is World Space Week?
World Space Week is the largest annual space event on Earth, celebrated in over 95 countries during the week of October 4–10. Designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999, the dates honor two milestones: the launch of Sputnik 1 on October 4, 1957, and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967. Each year carries a new theme, with schools, agencies, and enthusiasts hosting rocket launches, stargazing nights, and conversations about how space technology shapes our daily lives.
