What is National Grief Awareness Day?
National Grief Awareness Day, founded by Angela Cartwright, honors the reality that grief is part of life — a response to losing someone or something we love. It exists to remind us how to be there for others: presence over advice, listening over fixing. The day talks about the well-known five stages — denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance — not as a linear path but as a loop we move through differently in every moment. The invitation is simple: be there. Bring a meal, lend an ear, share a laugh, or just sit.
How to celebrate
Mark the day with a poster made in Dayfeed — pick your favourite photo as the background, share it to your story or group chat, and set a reminder so you never miss it next year.
